Overall brilliant bed and great value for money. Did a lot of research and settled on FurnitureForYou given all the customer reviews and designs I saw on their website. For this Ottoman specifically, we went with the slats rather than the divan base (heard mattress airflow was better). Was worries it wouldn't be sturdy - its only been a few days but so far seems pretty good. Storage is relatively shallow (see pic for my arm as a yardstick) just to set your expectations but more than enough for us, as you can effectively use the entire length and width of the bed. No creaking so far. Had an amazing sleep after 10 days on the floor!
A couple of things to note for any potential buyers:
- Assembly is £80 so I opted to do it myself instead. If you choose to do this, note that it is 100% a two person job. Some of the pieces are pretty heavy but aside from that, they are also very large and you need to be able to hold them in places while you screw/drill things in. It took us probably about 3 hours or so.
- If you opt for self–assembly, then they only deliver to ground floor (however I think you can ask for delivery to 1st floor but this is an extra charge, from memory something like £25, and you need to ask in advance)
- As noted in many other reviews very oddly they do not provide instructions unless you ask for them. I would recommend contacting their Customer service (e.g. using their WhatsApp service) in advance so that you can assemble it as soon as it arrives. To be fair, when I contacted them and it was a Saturday, they were quite quick to respond.
- There were a couple of things which I felt were not too obvious in the instructions, but again I reached out to Customer service for live support and figured the rest out on my own - though I did suggest a few updates to the instructions which might help future users.
- When you install the slatted frame, you install it upright. When you try to push it down, it’s so heavy that it leaves you thinking you’ve missed out a step. You might need to try loosening the nuts a little, or just adding some WD-40 to the gas lift mechanism. A combination of both seem to work for us. It will hopefully smoothen out even more overtime but just know that is still a little heavy - so it may not be practical for someone elderly, for example
- Also, we ordered the £1 fabric samples in advance to choose our colour/fabric. I would 100% recommend this as when delivered they do look a bit different to how they seem online (eg the grey plush velvet is much darker in person) and we changed our choice once we had seen the samples in person. The good news is is that the sample matched the bed exactly as delivered. We got it in Consiton Almond.
Overall, still gotta give 5/5 as I love the design of the bed and soft feel of the fabric. Looks great/premium and not at all tacky. Will see how it stands the test of time but for now it’s great.
